Grades Six and Seven learners at a local primary school were commended for their detailed charcoal artworks exploring light and shadow.
Grades Six and Seven learners at Laerskool Randhart were commended for creating art with charcoal and water droplets.
“With fine observation and technical skill, they portrayed the interplay between light and shadow. The soft reflections and deep contrasts make each droplet almost appear alive on the paper,” the school said in a statement.

The SA arts and creative industry is a vital contributor to the GDP, and includes visual arts, crafts, performance, literature and digital gaming.

The sector contributes nearly 3% to the GDP, almost as much as agriculture, making it a significant source of jobs.

“These artworks show technical growth and how we teach young artists to see the world with a sharper eye. Your creativity and artistic ingenuity take our breath away,” the school added.
