ALBERTON- Alberton veteran runner Barbara Luckemeyer, who this year completed her very first Comrades marathon in under 11 hours to finish as one of the top Alberton women’s and veterans athletes, is still living her dream year on the road.

She ran away with the women’s veterans’ prize for first overall woman home at the Jozi South halfmarathon to make Alberton extremely proud.

When she started her first big year as a roadrunner she couldn’t imagine what she could eventually achieve. She was the first Alberton woman in the Two Oceans 56 km in 5: 40:12, and she boasted a 4:04 for the Jackie Gibson standard 42 km. Then she is also part of the Luckemeyer husband and wife team, consisting of husband Jorg and Barbara Luckemeyer. What a year for these two lovely people who made 2014 their novice year as road athletes.
