Alberton karatekas off to world champs

Members of the Cobras Shotokan Karate Club in Alberton have been selected to represent South Africa at the 10th WUKF World Karate Championships held in Florida, USA, from July 2 to 7.

They are Alexcia Andrade, Sahara Peel, Ivy-Lynn Griffin and sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde.

While a lot of hard work, dedication and many training hours lie ahead of these karatekas, they enjoy the support of the club.

Gaston-Bellegarde is also the coach for the SAKSA team and with eight world championship medals to his name, members of the team are confident they have only the best knowledge and expertise available to them to achieve success.

The club trains at Ascot Mews, 19 Heidelberg Road, Alberton, on Monday and Wednesday from 17:30 to 18:30 (beginner classes) and 18:30 to 19:30 (advanced classes).

For more information, contact Gaston-Bellegarde on 082 494 2704 or sensei Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde on 082 302 8637. Alternatively, visit their website.
