Alberton boxer headline ‘winner take all’

Former boxer Brian Mitchell described it as one of the best fights he has seen in this 50 years of boxing with the Alberton boxer making Knapp work to win the ABU Junior middleweight title.

Alberton’s Brandon Thysse and Linbro Park’s Roarke Knapp faced each other for the Junior Middleweight ABU Africa title in the headline bout of the Winner Takes All Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court on June 11.

With boxers weighing in on June 10, both were confident that they will record a win on Saturday evening.
Thysse previously won Knapp by way of knockout at the same venue back in November 2019.

The 12-round tussle was a tight affair with both fighters bringing their A-game.

The fight went to Knapp in a split decision.

Former boxer Brian Mitchell described it as one of the best fights he has seen in this 50 years of boxing with the Alberton boxer making Knapp work to win the title.

Two former and one current boxing champion were called to the ring. Among the three was Boxing Hall of Famers, Isufu “Ike” Quartey of Ghana and Brian Mitchell of Bassonia.
