Boxer Mbatha tops in development tournament
Local fighter Manelisa Mbatha excelled at a boxing tournament this weekend.
The Bert Collins Boxing Club hosted a development tournament for Gauteng clubs on July 1 in Springs, and the Alberton Boxing Club participated.
An Alberton Boxing Club (ABC) amateur fighter, Manelisa Mbatha, competed at a development tournament in Springs over the weekend.
The tournament, which featured at least 26 bouts, saw the 21-year-old win by a unanimous points decision, earning Mbatha a gold medal.
The ABC congratulated Mbatha on his accomplishment. The club will compete in a women’s boxing tournament in Springs on July 15.
