Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School’s netball team thumped Boksburg’s Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen squad in the final league fixture of the 2025 season.

Of 13 matches played, Marais Viljoen’s team recorded 12 victories.

“We are proud of our netball girls who took to the courts showcasing talent, dedication and teamwork throughout the season. It was a bittersweet emotional milestone for Hoërskool Marais Viljoen netball. What made the day significant was that it was the last league match for our matric players and, fittingly, they had the honour of playing it on our home courts in front of their coaches, teammates, families and supporters,” said the school in a statement.

First team: HS Viljoen 45-28 HS Jansen;

Second team: HS Viljoen 18-15 HS Jansen;

U14 A: HS Viljoen 25-9 HS Jansen;

U14 B: HS Viljoen 24-8 HS Jansen;

U14 C: HS Viljoen 42-0 HS Jansen;

U15 A: HS Viljoen 25-15 HS Jansen;

U15 B: HS Viljoen 21-9 HS Jansen;

U15 C: HS Viljoen 16-7 HS Jansen;

U16 A: HS Viljoen 20-21 HS Jansen;

U16 B: HS Viljoen 27-13 HS Jansen;

U16 C: HS Viljoen 31-4 HS Jansen.

The netball victory follows the launch of Marais Viljoen’s high-performance centre. The school hopes the facility and fitness equipment will mark a major step in its commitment to developing well-rounded elite athletes across various sporting codes and creating a space where excellence is nurtured.

Commenting on the centre’s opening, the school said, “The new centre will serve as a training hub for our sports teams and individual athletes, providing access to professional-level conditioning, rehabilitation and performance analysis.”

Among the launch attendees was the school’s principal, Dr Johlet Krause, who was visibly excited for the centre’s opening.
