Cobras shine at WUKF Gauteng Provincial Karate Championships

The Cobras Shotokan Karate Club from Alberton recently competed at the World Union of Karate-Do Federations Gauteng Provincial Karate Championships in Brakpan.

The event drew a large turnout, with students from across Gauteng in attendance.

The club performed well, earning 13 medals from nine competitors.

Medalists: Keana Truscott (two golds), Alexcia Andrade (two silvers), Hayley Peel (a silver and two bronzes), Sahara Peel (two golds and a silver), Yakshay Sewnarain (bronze), Tyron Dos Santos (bronze) and Ryan Hovell-Erasmus (bronze).

The club trains at Ascot Mews on 19 Heidelberg Avenue, Newmarket, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:30 to 18:30 (beginner class) and 18:30 to 19:30 (advanced).

Anyone interested in trying the sport can take the first two classes for free.
