Thysse brothers defend their titles this Saturday

The Thysse brothers of Alberton will make history on Saturday evening, March 28, when they become the first brothers to defend their respective South African boxing titles on the same bill.

Brandon and Bryan Thysse of Alberton will make history on Saturday evening, March 28.

They will become the first brothers to defend their respective South African boxing titles in the Sole Survivor Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court.

Brandon will not only defend his SA Super Welterweight title, but also fight for the WBC Africa Super Welterweight title. He will take on Roarke Knapp for the sole survivor bragging rights and a prize purse of nearly R1m, the biggest purse in a domestic fight in SA history.

Brandon and Knapp have met twice previously, with each being victorious, so Saturday evening’s encounter is sure to be a humdinger.

While Brandon goes toe-to-toe with Knapp in the headline bout of the Sole Survivor extravaganza, brother Bryan will defend his SA light heavyweight title on the undercard against their cousin Gerhard Thysse of Springs.
