WATCH: Elande and Pirates deliver rugby festival at Alberton Re-Union Day

Full day of rugby and entertainment marks Alberton Re-Union.

Alberton Rugby Club hosted a packed Re-Union Day, with Elande and Pirates renewing one of Gauteng’s oldest club rugby rivalries across five matches and a full entertainment programme.

Fans were treated to non-stop rugby, followed by live music performances by local artists. The day kicked off at the club grounds, with games running through to the main first team clash.

Pirates struck first in the junior grades, with the U19 side taking a convincing 40-17 win over Elande.
Elande hit back in the U21 clash, edging Pirates 20-17 in a tight contest.

The third team’s match saw Pirates win 20-15, before Elande’s second team delivered a nail-biting 28-27 victory.

The main event saw Elande’s first team dominate proceedings to claim a 53-35 win, wrapping up the day on a high for the home supporters.

The event also featured entertainment for the whole family, and supporters wearing Alberton Rugby Club colours received a drink on the house to add to the celebrations.
