Alberton’s Karien ‘Sniper’ Els books place at SA National Boxing Championships

16-year-old Alberton boxer Karien "Sniper" Els is preparing for the South African National Boxing Championships after winning her recent Gauteng bout and earning selection for the prestigious tournament in Kimberley.

Alberton’s young boxing talent continues to make the town proud after 16-year-old Karien ‘Sniper’ Els earned selection to represent Gauteng at the South African National Boxing Championships later this year.

The Hoërskool Dinamika learner recently represented Gauteng, where she won her bout to secure her place at the national championships, which will take place in Kimberley. Karien has been working closely with her coaches, Johan Fritz and Nicky Ness, as she prepares for the next stage of her boxing journey.

According to the statement, the trio is pushing hard on her training and honing her skills ahead of the national tournament.

There was further recognition for Team Gauteng, with Nicky Ness being selected as the head coach for the championships.

In addition to her achievements in the ring, Karien is also a brand ambassador for Damascus Sport.

With a national championship now on the horizon, Alberton will be cheering Karien on as she looks to build on her recent success and fly the town’s flag on one of South Africa’s biggest amateur boxing stages.
