Dinamika hockey star drafted and named U18 captain
Jeandré van Jaarsveld will lead the Avengers Wasps U18 team after being drafted for the 2026 Eastern Gauteng Hockey Premier League Afterburn Tournament.
Dinamika’s Jeandré van Jaarsveld has earned a place among some of the top young hockey players in Gauteng after being drafted to the Avengers Wasps U18 team for the 2026 Eastern Gauteng Hockey Premier League (EPL) Afterburn Tournament.
The achievement marks a milestone for Jeandré, who was selected for one of Gauteng’s most competitive junior hockey events.
The EPL Afterburn is an elite development and competition platform where young hockey players from Eastern Gauteng clubs and schools are identified based on their performance, potential and skills.
Rather than players signing up for teams themselves, they are “drafted” by coaches and appraisers to specific franchises. Jeandré was drafted to the Avengers Wasps U18 team, an honour reserved for the top players in their age group.
His selection was made even more special when the coaching staff appointed him captain of the Avengers Wasps U18 team for the 2026 EPL Afterburn season.
As captain, Jeandré will be expected to lead by example while inspiring, supporting and representing his team both on and off the field.
His appointment also reflects the confidence the coaches and his fellow players place in his leadership, character, and hockey ability.
For Jeandré, the opportunity is a chance to showcase his skills on an elite development and competition platform while continuing his growth in the sport.
