Trio makes school proud after triumphs
Alberton High School has proudly announced successes attained by sports stars.
Learners Chinazah Ezeala, Kayleigh Vawda and Kirsty Correia have played a major role in bringing pride to Alberton High School.
Chinazah, also known as Chichi, and Kayleigh were selected to represent Eastern Gauteng U18 hockey at the inter-provincial tournament in Stellenbosch.
Kirsty also made the school proud after having been recently included in the SA junior high-performance squad for badminton.
An overjoyed Chinazah said hockey teaches her skills that will help her in life beyond the field.

“I can remember as if it was yesterday when my mom took me to join Alberton Junior Hockey Club. Without hockey, my life will never be the same. I appreciate everything that hockey has taught me. It brings people together. I can tell you now that I would rather play hockey, it is my identity,” she said.
Having played hockey for nine years, Kayleigh said she has worked very hard to achieve what she has so far.

“I am grateful to my coaches and Alberton High School for their great support in getting me to where I am. I am proud to represent Alberton High School and am looking forward to growing and becoming successful in my hockey career,” she said.
Kirsty told the Alberton RECORD she was first exposed to badminton when she was eight years old.

“My brother James started playing at Alberton High School. I loved the sport from the moment I tried it and thanks to dedicated coaches and organisers, I’ve been learning and developing since,” she said.
