A nuisance of a grandson

ALEXANDRA - A grandson of an 83-year-old pensioner from 10th Avenue is being sought by the police in connection with a charge of malicious damage to property.

A grandson of an 83-year-old pensioner who lives in 10th Avenue is being sought by the police in connection with a charge of malicious damage to property.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the pensioner was asleep with his two great grandsons in the house when he was awoken by a noise coming from the kitchen areas just after midnight.

He woke up to check and his two grandsons told him his grandson, known as Mdumiso, was throwing bricks at the burglar bars of the kitchen door. Mdumiso used to live with them, but they since asked him to find his own place of abode as he was a nuisance.

Maphakela said Mdumiso was well-known in that section of Alex and police were still looking for him as his place of abode was unknown.
