Man (31) charged with raping younger brother’s pregnant girlfriend (17)
ALEXANDRA – A 31-year-old Alex man was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates' Court for allegedly raping his younger brother's seven-months pregnant, 17-year-old girlfriend.
The court heard that at about 8pm on 5 January this year, the victim, who had just arrived from her rural KwaZulu-Natal home, was relaxing with her younger sister at the boyfriend’s home on 3rd Avenue when the accused arrived.
He allegedly told the victim, the boyfriend was with friends on 4th Avenue and he could take her there.
When they arrived and didn’t find him, he told her the friends had pointed out where he was and they proceeded.
When they got to a poorly-lit area next to some toilets, the victim got scared and refused to proceed further. The accused allegedly threatened her and pulled her into a toilet, forced off her panties and raped her without a condom. After that, she said the accused threatened her and told her not to tell anyone.
She said she didn’t scream because she was scared of him, claiming he had allegedly killed before. It is claimed the accused then walked back with her to the younger brother’s home.
The victim reported the incident to the brothers’ sister the following morning.
Medical examination results presented in court indicated signs of forced penetration, resulting in his arrest. In mitigation, he claimed the victim consented to sexual intercourse.
The case continues.
