Trespasser receives six months behind bars after conviction passed by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court

ALEXANDRA – Man's plea bargaining nets him six months in jail for trespassing into a cafe.

An Alex man with a previous record of dagga possession was sentenced by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to six months’ imprisonment for trespassing. This was a result of a plea bargain.

Magistrate Renier Boshoff found Collen Mothiba (38) guilty of the crime after hearing how security guards were alerted to a break-in at a cafe in Bramley. They found him in the storeroom after he gained entry by jumping over a fence and breaking into the cafe. He was found with a toaster in his hand.

In the dagga possession conviction, Mothiba got away with a warning.
