Justice for spinning hijacker

ALEXANDRA – Stiff sentence for Alex hijacker who was arrested in Limpopo.

A man who hijacked a BMW in Alex and spun it in Zebetiele, Limpopo leading to his arrest after a high-speed chase, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Alex Magistrates’ Court.

Nine of the years were suspended for five years.

Tebogo Maluleke, who pleaded guilty before magistrate Renier Boshoff on 11 September, took the vehicle he hijacked in Alex at night on 25 July to Zebetiele, his home, where he was reported to the police the following day while spinning it at his former school’s sports grounds. A car chase ensued into rural dusty roads and he was nabbed as he fled into bushes to hide after he lost control of the vehicle at a roadblock.
