Montrose teams up with Phithos Technologies to make dreams possible

Daughter of Phithos Technologies CEO, Ganya Arora, shares her reasons behind giving an opportunity to the kids of the Alex Hub cricket team after spending time with them at the Wanderers Stadium for the T20 match.

The partnership between Montrose Primary School, Phithos Technologies and Crescent Cricket Club resulted in a beautiful tale of children witnessing their first-ever professional cricket match at the Wanderers Stadium.

What started out as a normal conversation between Mokhosi Makara, head of the sports department at Montrose, and Lovkesh Arora, CEO of Phithos Technologies, a mutual interest of cricket and creating opportunities for those in need was highlighted.

The two parties further discussed their primary goals with the chairman of Crescent Cricket Club, Mohammed Majam, who adopted their vision.

“Arora, who is very passionate about giving back to communities, came up with a wonderful idea – originally birthed by his daughter, Ganya Arora, who used to be a Montrose learner. We invited a few players from the Alex Hub cricket team to experience the beauty of watching their favourite players play cricket. It’s always good to see kids having fun and enjoying life, it reflects on their grades and personalities,” said Makara.

The children were invited to watch the T20 match between Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals in a private suite on February 3. From start to finish, the future cricketers could not contain their excitement as they were treated like kings through the sponsorship of Phithos Technologies.

“I was never a sporty person in school, but seeing the unity and the excitement on people’s faces during the Montrose Night Challenge, I fell in love and wanted to share that feeling with others,” said Ganya Arora. “We are preparing them (Alex Hub team) for their special moment during the course of the night challenge. I can’t wait to see them play.”

Montrose added the Alex cricket team to feature in the tournament that commenced on February 10.

“It was a no-brainer for me to get on board with this initiative. I think that this is a priceless experience for both the kids and for us. My wish now is to watch a few of them play at the Wanderers Stadium once they get older,” added Majam.

Ganya mentioned that her biggest highlight of the event was presenting the children with some Joburg Super Kings merchandise and souvenirs.
