Dark City Sessions brings heat to Alexandra’s Café 25

Local artists and a large crowd helped bring energy to Café 25 in Alexandra, as they hosted the Dark City Sessions event.

The Dark City Sessions event, held at Café 25 in Alexandra on July 7, was described as a resounding success, which drew in a crowd of more than 200 music enthusiasts.

The event saw artists from Alex and beyond coming together to support the movement and showcase their talents; solidifying its position as a premier platform for local music.

One of the event organisers, Sipho Ntjie of the Komtseng Visual Magazine, said teamwork was the key to the event’s success.
“Hosting an event with a well-known Kasi rapper from Soweto, Siya Shezi, was a remarkable experience; made possible by a reliable team that held it down from beginning to end.

“Although there were difficulties while organising the event, we tackled with an incredible spirit of uplifting one another and achieving our goals together,” Ntjie said.

Music lovers enjoy themselves at the Dark City Sessions event.

The event saw a strong turnout from local artists, who came out in numbers to captivate the crowd with their electric performances. The line-up featured: Shezi, Godfather Wase Kasi, Genocide, Nolly, Tlou, Magenta, and No’thing. Ntjie credited the artists’ participation for helping maintain momentum and taking the event to new heights. “We have come a long way to reach this level; with the dedication and passion we bring, we are destined to go even further.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us. We ask that you continue to believe in us, despite any challenges we may encounter. This is for the people, by the people,” Ntjie said.
