Eugenious to drop ‘Pressure’
Eugenious SA looks to put latest single Pressure on every playlist in the country this December.
Building on his successes since first embarking on a musical career, Alexandra’s own homegrown musician, Eugene ‘Eugenious SA’ Selemela continues to put his own style of hip-hop and amapiano forward – much to the appreciation of his community.
Selemela will be releasing his latest single, Pressure, to the world at 00:00 on December 1. This latest music drop follows his first EP, My Own Lane, which was produced by Youngkissbeatz and released in 2021. This was while Selemela was still in high school, at Realogile High.

Before his music career took off, Selemela sang vocals, as well as played marimba, drums, and piano in primary school.
“In Grade 6, in 2013, I won competitions across Gauteng, and even played for other schools,” he said. “That was when I saw that music is in my blood,” said Selemela, ahead of reflecting on his family, and the home he grew up in.
“My family; we are a happy family, especially my mother and my stepdad. They always support, guide, and protect me through their prayers,” Selemela celebrated. “My mother is supportive. She understands the entertainment industry, as she was a background singer for the late Lebo Mathosa, and even Zola 7.”

Describing himself as a motivational artist, Selemela spoke about singing songs about the themes that he encounters in real life.
“If you face difficulties in life, my music will take you through a healing process,” Selemela said. “Most of my sounds are all about uplifting, and inspiring through music. I rap about happiness and love; I sing songs about challenges that I face in life.”
Recalling when he first realised that he could become a recording artist himself, Selemela remembered his first time performing at school in 2019, and how he’s built on the progressive strides he’s taken since.
“I was scared, and nervous because I had stage fright,” said Selemela. “In my last year at school (2022), I decided to work hard so that people at my school would notice me. I shot a music video. All learners saw me, and they were very impressed by me because I had started representing myself well.”
Through the continued success and progress of his artistic brand, Eugenious SA, Selemela aspires towards expanding in the direction of building an orphanage and community centre in his neighbourhood, now that he has been signed by a distribution studio.
Selemela signed a deal with music distributor Emmygees Productions in June 2024.
“Helping children who are struggling to reach their goals, that’s my aim. To help other people grow, as much as I am getting help from people who believe, and have faith in my career. I want to believe in other people who have talents.”
