Stacey Fru shines bright with 7 distinctions in the Sacred Heart College Class of 2024
Stacey Fru from Sacred Heart Colledge achieved an impressive 7 distinctions and 2 credits, boasting a remarkable 47 out of 49 GPA, emerging as the top achiever.

Seventeen-year-old Stacey Fru from Bramley has made her family, teachers, and peers proud by emerging as the top achiever in the Sacred Heart College Class of 2024, achieving seven distinctions.
Stacey’s educational journey began in 2020 with the dawn of the Covid-19 pandemic, which abruptly transformed her transition to high school. “I cannot believe I am finally here. High school is officially over. Congratulations to me and 2024 matriculants,” she said.

Her journey kicked off in January of that year when she started Grade 8 but just weeks later, schools closed indefinitely, forcing her to adapt to online learning. “It was tough, but I adapted, studied hard, and ended the year as one of the top academic achievers in my grade.”
The following years saw her navigate the challenges of high school while continuing to excel academically. In Grade 9, she embraced the joys of being back in a physical classroom and worked diligently to select subjects that aligned with her future goals.
By Grade 10, Stacey was adjusting to a rigorous workload and taking on a leadership role as the elected Junior MMC for Community in the Johannesburg Student Council.
“Grade 11 was all about preparation,” Stacey mentioned, highlighting her focus on university applications and academic rigour.

Her hard work culminated in Grade 12, where she balanced study schedules with extracurricular commitments and celebrated milestones such as her matric dance and valedictory ceremony. “To my surprise, I was awarded the Top Student in Academics in my grade, a moment I will treasure forever.”
Stacey’s academic prowess shone particularly brightly during her final exams in mid-October, leading to a mix of emotions. “It was a weird feeling to know I had completed high school.
“On January 14, 2025, when the matric results were announced, I received the best news ever. With seven As and two Bs, my GPA is 47 out of 49. I am so proud of myself.”
Now, with aspirations to pursue engineering, Stacey shared words of advice to the learners. “Stay focused, work hard, and believe in yourself. Challenges will come, but with determination and perseverance, you can overcome them and succeed.
“I’m proud of what I have accomplished and look forward to what lies ahead.”
