DoubleDolly twins dance their way to the top
From the township corners to national campaigns, Alexandra twins Luvuyo and Vuyo Yanda, known as DoubleDolly, turned their childhood hobby into a life-changing movement, proving that good dance moves can take you anywhere.
Born and raised in Alexandra, Luvuyo and Vuyo Yanda are more than just dancers; they are cultural forces on the move.
Known as DoubleDolly, the duo has transformed their passion for dancing into a lifestyle, career, and beacon of hope for young dreamers in the township.

Their dance journey began at the age of 10, when dancing was simply a source of joy. But as their connection to dance deepened, it became a calling they could not ignore. Along the way, challenges tested their resolve. “We had to choose dance as a career and leave everything else behind. We put dance first because we believed in the power it holds,” Luvuyo shared.
He said as years went by, they approached numerous dance groups. Their first serious platform came through Youth Stand Together (YST), a grassroots group that advanced their ability to move their feet with remarkable rhythm. But their lives changed when they joined Urban Pantsulas, Alexandra’s professional dance company. There, they trained hard and soon broke into the professional scene.

“We started attending professional events at an early age. Our first job was with Red Bull; it was the first gig we ever went to. After that gig, several jobs started coming our way. We did multiple music videos with different artists like Khuli Chana, Zuma, DJ Maphorisa, Blaq Diamond, Tyla, and Gqoz Qqoz hit maker, Busta 929,” Luvuyo stated.
More than performers, the DoubleDolly twins also became brand ambassadors, working with Sportscene to uplift local clothing brands such as Ekse, DMD, Swenka Lee Wang, and Mitch Wear, and also appeared in adverts for Vodacom, Converse, and Skipper Bar. “After that, our names became very popular, and we started influencing young stars who wanted to become like us. Since then, dance has been our best friend and everything else we would ever need.”
