Classroom turns concert as Banike tour inspires Kwabhekilanga learners

The Banike School tour offered Kwabhekilanga learners more than just a reprieve from exam stress; it offered them hope and a gentle reminder that their community believes in them.

As the pressure of final exams looms, matric learners at Kwabhekilanga Secondary School were gifted a rare moment of reprieve, a joyful pause in the grind for better grades.

In their final Banike School Tour of 2025, Andra Da DJ, Gilly Gilly, and Siga Bopha, otherwise known as AGS Musiq, in partnership with Approachable Farming and supported by Pick n Pay, brought music and hope to the learners at Kwabhekilanga.

From stationery giveaways to impromptu classroom performances, their visit was not just a promotional stop; it was a gesture of solidarity. The AGS trio, Luyanda Sontsi, Gilbert Nkoana, and Sipho Mthembu, alongside a vibrant group of dancers and partners, inspired resilience and ambition among the learners.

“It’s important for us to give back to the community,” said Mthembu. “We are who we are because of these people. They stream our music, support us, and help us get to where we are.”

He added that the initiative was not only about giving away stationery, but it was also about giving away hope and a clear message that no matter where the learners come from, they can make it in life.

Learners responded with heartfelt gratitude and reflections, among them was a 17-year-old matriculant. “Today is a beautiful day that the Lord has made,” she noted. “This year has been difficult. I’ve broken down a lot. But I want to encourage you, read your books, find a study strategy that works for you, and study smart. Use Chat GPT to help you with questions.”

“To the kind people who were so thoughtful—we are grateful,” another 17-year-old learner noted. “It goes a long way. Thank you so much, Pick n Pay. Continue the great work you are doing.”

For many learners, the visit was more than a break from routine; it was a reminder that they are seen, supported, and capable of rising above their circumstances. The blend of music and material support created a moment of unity and upliftment.

As the school year draws to a close, the message from AGS Musiq and their partners to the learners is clear and it is that their dreams are valid, their efforts matter, and their community is behind them.
