“My school helps me catch up on work when I am travelling for tournaments and my typical training week includes school, practice at Bryanston Country Club, lessons with coach Llewelyn van Leeuwen, and fitness sessions with trainer Gavin Groves.”

He said as a junior golf captain at Bryanston Country Club, he had embraced a leadership role.

“I want to help build a junior programme that fosters talent and a love for the game.”

He said he found inspiration in motivating his peers, especially after the club’s junior team’s victory in the 2024 Junior B League.

“My short-term goal is to make the U19 Central Gauteng Golf Union team, and long-term, I hope to study at an American university and play college golf.”

Syan emphasised that he wanted to turn professional and was taking steps toward that future, working with top coaches and aiming for a golf scholarship.

“Off the course, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing football. Despite the pressures of golf, I understand the importance of balance. There’s a time for everything. Work hard in golf, focus on academics, and spend time with family and friends.”
