Police probe discovery of an unidentified body in Alexandra

Authorities have opened an inquest after community members reported a body discovered on 3rd Avenue.

Police have opened an inquest following the discovery of a man’s body in Alexandra on June 1.

Officers were alerted by community members after the body was found on 3rd Avenue, along Alfred Nzo Street. Police responded to the call and located the deceased at the scene near a recycling site in the area.

“At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown, and investigations are currently underway,” the police revealed in a statement.

The man has not yet been identified, and no further details about his age or the possible cause of death have been released.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist with the investigation or identification of the deceased to contact Alexandra SAPS or the SAPS Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111.
