Police launch murder probe after two teenagers shot dead
Two high school learners have died after being shot in the head near Madala Hostel in Alexandra.
Police have launched a murder investigation after two young men were shot and killed at the intersection of Alfred Nzo and 6th avenues in Alexandra on October 5.
Alexandra Police Station commander Brigadier Vusimuzi Ngubane said police received a community report about the shooting at around 21:00. On arrival, officers found both victims dead at the scene.

Ngubane confirmed that the victims, who were high school learners aged 17 and 19, were shot in the head.
The events leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and police have yet to establish a motive. “We do not know what happened or what they were doing. That is part of the investigation, but the families have been informed,” he said.
He said police are still gathering information to determine who was involved and how many suspects there were.
Preliminary information suggests the two may have been sitting at the intersection when the shooting happened. Ngubane said one was found seated on a wall along the walkway, while the other lay close by.

Madala Hostel crime hotspot
The area around Sector Two, particularly near Madala Hostel, has repeatedly been flagged by police as one of the most violent crime hotspots in the precinct. Police have recorded multiple incidents of gun violence there.
In July, a 38-year-old man was fatally shot on 4th Avenue near the hostel. The following month, another man’s body was found two streets away on 2nd Avenue. In September, a man died of a gunshot wound after allegedly being involved in a shoot-out with police near Madala Hostel.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) confirmed that the September shooting involving police is under investigation.
Police have not established a direct link between the incidents.
At a community meeting on September 26, police said their analysis of most murders in the precinct suggested they were revenge-related.
