Vincent Rammoni, one of the young emerging coaches in the Alexandra Northrand Football Association hopes to inspire the youth of Alexandra through football.

The 21-year-old Malandela Mighty Heroes coach is fast becoming a household name in Alexandra with his team’s great performances week in and week out.

Rammoni started coaching in 2009 after his football career was cut short when he broke his leg while playing.

The young mentor said he had learnt hard lessons over the years growing up in Alexandra, and losing his father recently was also tough.

“Growing up in this township is not easy, you come across many challenges and bad influences like being involved in drugs and alcohol,” he said.

“But I thank God for making me realise my dream at an early age.”

Rammoni completed Grade 12 in 2013 and is now doing a marketing course at the Central Johannesburg College after taking a gap year in 2014.

The Malandela coach thanked the people who encouraged and supported him during the early stages of his career with the most notable of them being Mxolisi Mngomezulu who coaches Pamo United in Alex.

Rammoni said he was also inspired by Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane and hoped to emulate him one day.

“He is always committed and he wants everything to be done to the highest level,” he said.

“He has proven that regardless of where you come from you could still achieve your dream. Look at him today. He is a household name in South African football, but he is from the dusty streets of Soweto, and he has made it big in football.”

As a coach, Rammoni has achieved 14 winners medals including two league titles and three Maimane Alfred Phiri Games gold medals. “We have really worked hard as a team and the support from the management has been amazing, and we are still hungry for more.”

Rammoni said he had a passion for coaching at an early age, even when he was still a player. He wants to establish himself as one of the best local coaches and hopefully to go on to lead one of the top teams in the Premier Soccer League.
