Today the nation and the world are at war against an invisible enemy, called Covid-19 also known as coronavirus. The virus that was firstly reported in Wuhan, China in December last year has forced nations to shut down their economic activities and impose strict restriction on their citizens.

The fearless South African legendary female artists who were part of the struggle against apartheid, Jane Dlamini Izintombi Zesimanjemanje, Zodwa Mashinini from Zamambo band and Tonique Phala of Lucky Dube music band, Nazania Radebe from Isitimela music band and Nelly Dladla have collaborated and released a hit track title What shall we do.

The song is aimed at raising awareness about the pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives and left millions of South Africans without jobs in the country and all around the world.Omama Besixaxa as their group is called, was formed in 2009 with the aim of helping upcoming music artists.

Nelly Dladla, who is one of the leading vocalist in the group, said old artists have a huge role to play in nation building.

“We as musicians have a role to play in building our nation. Music artists played a significant role when our country was at war against apartheid and today we are fighting a very dangerous enemy called Covid-19. As an old artist we saw it fitting to compile a song that will spread awareness about this pandemic. Through the support of ANCWL president, Bathabile Dlamini we were able to go to the studio and released the song,” Dladla said.

Dladla said the group worked with instrument players like Moses ‘Black Mose’ Ngwenya of Soul Brothers and guitarist, Ntokozo Zungu from Isitimela music band.
