Edenvale’s U/6 team beats Corinthians

Edenvale Football Club (FC) scooped a 1-0 win over Corinthians Football Club (FC) during a closely contested game on Saturday last week.

The two clubs met for a friendly match at Edenvale sports grounds.

Edenvale coach, Julian Peel, said that his boys stuck to their game plan.

“We were playing the diamond shape, one defender, two strikers and a lone striker. I told them to pass the ball wide to the sides. I knew that I had Trent Hartoch on the left and Thomas Baigent on the right in the first half.

“In the second half I had Daniel Soekoe on the left. All these players are fast. I knew that they would challenge the other team from that angle,” he said.

The coach added that the skills of his goalkeeper, Troy Peel, came in handy during the game.

“He has power in his foot; kicks the ball to the other half of the field from his 18-yard line. Also his distribution skills are amazing. He strengthened our backline. My boys, Riley Baigent and Jayden Plantagie, were just good today,” said Peel.

Corinthians’ coach, Michali Kapacos, said his team had a good game, just that they could not penetrate the back line.

“This was a tough game. My boys were attacking and controlling the game most of the time. They just could not crack the back line and convert their chances at goals. But it was a lovely, competitive game,” said Kapacos.

He said his team of Steleio Papadopoulas, Daniel Tsoukapas, Alexi Triandafilou, Yianni Kapacos and Nicholas Nicolaou have a bright future in soccer.
