Police chase ends in shoot out

Two men were arrested yesterday after the hijacked vehicle the men were driving crashed into a wall in Harmelia.

Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, confirmed the men opened fire on security personnel from a vehicle tracking company when they were cornered after the accident.

“A response officer from the tracking company retaliated and fired a number of shots at the occupants of the vehicle,” Lt Col Roberts said.

Bullet holes are marked during on scene investigations
The hijacked vehicle the men were using was hit a number of times during the shoot out.

The men attempted to flee.

One of the men was arrested on scene and the other was arrested by members of the SAPS a short while later.

The vehicle the men were traveling was hijacked earlier the same day in Brixton.

One of the firearms recovered at the scene was a toy gun believed to be used in the hijacking.
