Two men were arrested after a shoot out with reaction officers from a vehicle tracking company in Edenvale.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, confirmed the men opened fire on security personnel from a vehicle tracking company when they were cornered after the accident.
“A response officer from the tracking company retaliated and fired a number of shots at the occupants of the vehicle,” Lt Col Roberts said.
The hijacked vehicle the men were using was hit a number of times during the shoot out.
The men attempted to flee.
One of the men was arrested on scene and the other was arrested by members of the SAPS a short while later.
The vehicle the men were traveling was hijacked earlier the same day in Brixton.
One of the firearms recovered at the scene was a toy gun believed to be used in the hijacking.
