Stoneridge Shopping Centre treated children to story time tales on Mandela Day.
Local children flocked to the shopping centre on Mandela Day to donate books and listen to stories read by Dineo Ndlanzi from SmileMakers.
Annamarie Geldenhuys from Stoneridge Shopping Centre said that she invited 50 children from Thuthuzela Orphanage in Alexandra to join in the celebrations.
“The children enjoyed the stories and we treated them to a Wimpy lunch after the stories,” she said.
Ms Geldenhuys added that Stoneridge Shopping Centre is running a collection for children’s books throughout the year. The books will be donated to Mould Empower Serve (MES).
MES is an inner city initiative in Hillbrow that assists the homeless and destitute community.
Books can be dropped off at Stoneridge centre management offices (next to Post Net), Monday to Friday during office hours.
