Bennies go to leadership camp

St Benedict’s College grade 11 boys recently embarked on their annual leadership camp.

The event is a selection camp for those who want to be appointed to positions of leadership within the college in the forthcoming year.

St Benedict’s College sent 60 boys to Konka in the Magaliesberg region. The camp compromises a mixture of leadership lectures, team building activities and team work activities.

Some of the activities include lateral thinking exercises, low and high ropes, an obstacle course and a night time adventure race. The boys benefited immensely from the exercises and came away from the camp greatly enriched.

They learnt more about themselves over the course of the four days, assessed their strengths and weaknesses, talents and shortcomings.

During this time, the boys forged stronger bonds with each other, created a unity of purpose in terms of belonging within St Benedict’s. Each individual developed a greater understanding, not only of the requirements of being a leader, but also having learnt the valuable lesson of developing one’s own leadership ability.
