Man robbed at hotel

Yet another man was allegedly followed from the airport and robbed at a hotel in Bruma.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a man arrived at a hotel in Bruma from the airport on Tuesday.

“He was offloading his bags when he was approached by two men armed with firearms. They took all his belongings, including cellular phones, an iPad and dollars,” said Const Mashakane. This is not the first such incident in Bruma.

It was previously reported that two Mozambican citizens left OR Tambo International with a driver from the Mozambique Ports and Railways SA branch. They stopped at the gate of the hotel, waiting for security to open the gates.

Three men, all armed with pistols, approached and robbed them. A day later, the vice-consulate of Angola and the delegation he was with were also robbed in Bruma.

The consulate met a delegation at OR Tambo International Airport. He escorted them to a hotel in the suburb.

When they arrived at the hotel, they were approached by five men armed with guns.

One of the delegates was injured in his left foot. The group was robbed of their luggage, phones, cash and other items.

The latest incident, however, was the first incident in the Cleveland SAPS precinct since July.

The EXPRESS previously reported that the number of incidents of people being followed from the airport has decreased.

The Cleveland SAPS said they have been warning hotel and guest house owners in the area and crime intelligence officers are also doing observations at the airport.
