The incident occurred along Raleigh Street in Yeoville on October 13.
“The victim was walking along Raleigh Street when he was approached by two men, one carrying a knife,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.
The men demanded money and a cellular phone from the victim and threatened to harm him if he did not hand the items over.
“They took the victim’s belongings, but luckily police officers saw the incident and chased the suspects as they tried to flee the scene,” said Const Malatji.
The officers managed to arrest one suspect.
“He is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of armed robbery,” said Const Malatji.
