Successful event at Bertrams Junior School

Bertrams Junior School organised a fun run and walk around Judith’s Paarl and the adjacent suburbs on October 12 .

The fun run and walk was well attended by a diverse group of residents.

The guest of honour was the local ward councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha. Celebrities also attended this maiden event. Steven Dikobo gave a wonderful speech and motivation to the participants and the community.

Adults participated in a seven kilometre run and children under 15 participated in a five kilometre walk. Both routes were clearly marked out and manned by municipality traffic marshals and a first aid team.

The adults were divided in to three age groups. Prizes and medals were awarded to the first three participants in each category.

The school is striving to move “ever forward”, and developing it as a centre of activity.

The school invites the community to continue becoming comrades, living positive and healthy lifestyles, where children can learn from their examples.

Bertrams Junior School’s management team and staff, governing body and parent’s association plan to make the fun run and walk an annual event. They aim to raise urgently needed funds by having the fun run and walk and educational activities too.

Sincere thanks are extended to all who participated and sponsored the event this year.
