Two men arrested for possession of explosives

The incident occurred at the corner of Francis and Raymond streets on October 25.

“The officers received information about people who were in possession of explosives. On arrival at the address, they found a man who was inside the yard,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.

The officers inspected the premises and after a long search, they discovered objects which looked like explosives hidden in a vehicle inside the yard.

“The suspect led the police to one of his friends, who was also arrested,” said Const Malatji.

Members of the explosives unit were called to the scene, who confirmed that the items were explosives.

“We are anticipating more arrests,” said Const Malatji.
