An on-duty Bedfordview SAPS officer arrested a man on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property at Bedford Village on Nicole Road on December 16.
The officer was approached by a man in the area who claimed that he saw a silver Mercedes Benz with a broken rear window parked at the shopping complex.
The two went to examine the car and found that there was no vehicle of that description reported stolen.
When the man claiming to be the owner of the car could not produce any documents proving he owned the vehicle, nor his residential address, the officer arrested him on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property.
Investigations are continuing into the case.
