Of all the matrics who wrote the examinations, 96.4 percent achieved university entry passes and 2.6 percent achieved diploma entrance passes. The 2013 matric class also brought home 280 distinctions, earning the school its highest ever distinction rate of 2.6 distinctions per pupil.
The NEWS previously reported that Andre Pierre de Villiers, St Benedict’s College’s best performing pupil, obtained 10 distinctions with a 91.4 percent average.
Darren Macdonald, Richard van Rensburg , Mathew Ford and Bradley Latre obtained nine distinctions.
Five pupils, Shane Loser, Nathan Haag, Brandon Pickup, Ciaran Burks and Bryce Nichols obtained eight distinctions and six pupils, Brandon Burger, Adam Macgregor, Lorenzo Grispan, Christopher de Freitas, Byrone Kennedy and Fabio Loreggian obtained seven distinctions.
The 2013 matric class also capped a maths average of 74.2 percent, with 34 distinctions and a sciences average of 70.2 percent, with 24 distinctions.
Andre de Villiers features on the IEB Outstanding Achievers’ List, placing him in the top five percent of pupils nationally in 6 subjects. Darren Macdonald and Richard van Rensburg feature on the IEB Commendable Achievers’ List, which places the pupils in the top five percent of pupils nationally in five subjects.
