Sweet tooth criminals arrested

Four people who pretended to be sent by someone to purchase ginger cakes were arrested for attempted house robbery on January 15.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a Kensington resident was approached at her home by three women and a man.

“They pretended to be sent by someone to purchase the ginger cakes.

“The four suspects threatened to stab the victim with a screwdriver and they demanded money. The neighbours suspected something was wrong and they called the police,” said Const Mashakane.

Police officers reacted quickly and on arrival they found the four suspects still in the house and arrested them. The vehicle they were using tested positive for a murder and robbery case opened at Johannesburg Central in 2012.
