A man is facing charges of copper cable theft after he was caught on Linksfield Road last week.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said reaction officers from GAP Security were patrolling around the Linksfield area on Tuesday, when they noticed the occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously.
“When officers approached the vehicle, the occupants tried to flee. One of the occupants was caught,” he said.
Lt Col Roberts added that when officers searched the car they found four rolls of copper cables with an estimate value of R50 000.
“Copper cable theft is a serious crime with far reaching effects,” he said
The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday where the case against him was postponed for further investigation.
