Members of the Edenvale SAPS’ crime prevention unit arrested two men on suspicion of motor vehicle thefts on Monday last week.
The arrest was made at the Edenvale Sports Grounds and the men were found in possession of implements used in motor vehicle thefts, as well as theft from motor vehicles.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said further investigations by officers revealed the men were driving a suspected stolen vehicle.
“There were insufficient engine and chassis numbers. Investigations are underway to find out more information about the vehicle the men were using,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that when the two men were profiled, their criminal history showed a series of similar offences.
