Keurboom gets a monetary boost
During the Rhino project, the owner of Tzing, Ms Sam Branco, asked if Ms Farrer could do something for Cansa. Ms Farrer baked pink and blue ribbon-shaped ginger biscuits that were sold to raise money.
Ms Sue Farrer from Susi’s Kitchen and Tzing Hairdressing Salon in Hurlyvale were recently thanked for raising and donating money to the Keurboom Care Home, in Belgravia.
R2 000 was raised through the sale of biscuits.
“Ms Farrer, from Susi’s Kitchen, contacted me last year. She heard about Keurboom and provided us with delicious ribbon-shaped ginger biscuits which were handed out to survivors at one of the Cansa Relay for Life events we were involved with. Susi’s Biscuits worked with Tzing to raise money for Keurboom. Biscuits were sold and the proceeds were donated to Keurboom,” said Mrs Sandi van Tonder, the manager of Keurboom.
Ms Farrer often does fundraising for worthy causes.
“Susi’s Kitchen has supported many debutantes from Holy Rosary School over the last 12 years. When my eldest daughter, Ruth, was a debutante, there was tons of support from the folks in the neighbourhood. Tzing has always supported Susi’s Kitchen and Ruth and Rebekah’s ideas to raise money. So last year when Jason Hartman from Rock ‘n Ride 4 Rhino’s put a challenge out – they climbed in. We baked packets of biscuits with a rhino, a motor bike, a musical note, a map of Africa and the school badge. Tzing, Susi’s Kitchen, Ruth and Rebekah sold the biscuits. The girls were joint one and two fundraisers at school,” said Ms Farrer.

“I thank Ms Farrer and Tzing for their support,” said Mrs Van Tonder.
