Police donate clothes to pupils

Most of the children were not wearing uniforms. Some uniforms were worn out. She decided to ‘adopt’ 10 children, six girls and four boys. She bought them two shirts each, a long and short sleeve.

Several children received uniforms from police officers recently.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said Lieutenant Colonel Anna Nkhwashu, who is the head of the Jeppe SAPS’ finance department, visited Bertrams Junior Primary School last year.

“She saw the plight of children at the school. Most of the children were not wearing uniforms. Some uniforms were worn out. She decided to ‘adopt’ 10 children, six girls and four boys. She bought them two shirts each, a long and short sleeve,” said W/O Munyai. She donated the clothes, representing the Jeppe SAPS, on March 27.

“The children were happy. They thanked her and gave her a big hug. The school principal was also grateful to see her pupils receiving uniforms. This is a project we will continue doing every year as part of our social responsibility,” said W/O Munyai.
