Ward 118 – Who to contact
The ward 66 councillor, Clr Da Rocha, said if people have any council-related problems, they can contact him.
Ward 118 residents can report problems to Clrs Carlos da Rocha and Victor Penning.
They have stepped in to help residents following the defection of former councillor Ms Alison van der Molen, who moved from the DA to the ANC.
The EXPRESS reported last month that just days after wearing her DA t-shirt at a local march against crime, Ms Van der Molen announced her defection.
The ward 66 councillor, Clr Da Rocha, said if people have any council-related problems, they can contact him.
“I am aware there are service delivery concerns in ward 118, just like in my ward. I urge people to phone me, send me a message, email or contact me on Facebook. Please describe the problem and give me the exact location,” he said.
Clr Da Rocha said he has already reported some of the problems he saw in the ward while driving through the area. These problems include dumping, the bad state of the park close to the Jewish Guild in Observatory and potholes in Kensington.
Clr Victor Penning, who is a Kensington resident, said he will also do everything possible to help residents until a councillor is elected to serve the ward.
“Nominations for candidates closed last week. A by-election will take place soon. The date has not been confirmed yet. However, we will put forward a candidate who will see to residents’ needs,” said Clr Penning.
