Two suspects were arrested for theft of copper cables in Yeoville.

The arrests were made on April 27 at the corner of Page and Kenmere streets.

“A member of the community noticed two men cutting electrical cables from a pole and alerted the police,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, the policemen’s swift reaction led to the suspects being caught in the act and they were arrested.

He said both suspects were taken to Yeoville SAPS for detention and will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court soon.

“We thank members of the community for their cooperation with the police and urge more members to come forward with information that can help prevent copper cable theft in the area,” said Const Malatji.
