Neighbours market reinvented
The Neighbours Market, formerly the Kensington Market, took place at the Rhodes Park Community Centre on Sunday, June 1.
This was the first market since the new management renamed the event.
The market featured various arts and crafts stalls and food stalls.
“We are excited about the new stall owners we have brought in. This has given us the chance to launch the new management and bring in new faces,” said organiser Ms Wendy Nxayi.
According to another organiser, Ms Doreen Fosse, “We felt it would be great to include our neighbouring suburbs into our market and to offer more variety to everyone. We want all our neighbours to feel welcome so we decided to change the name to the Neighbours Market. We hope this will bring more feet to the market and encourage locals to support locals.”
“The I Love Kensington Association (ILKA) is a proud supporter of the new Neighbours Market and we are looking forward to the new relationship with the team,” said Ms Fosse.
Ms Lornette Joseph, the chairperson of ILKA said, “The idea of giving the market a face-lift and bringing in some new stalls encompassing fellow members is a lovely initiative. We stand firmly behind the team.”
The Neighbours Market will take place on the first Sunday of every month and entrance is free.
