Residents invited to attend establishment of forum
Community members, schools, churches, businesses, industries, non-profit organisations and interest groups are invited to the session, which runs from 9am.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has taken a stand against the destruction of the environment and will be resuscitating its ward-based Environment Forum programme.
On July 11, the municipality will hold a workshop at the Edenvale Customer Care Centre council chambers, where the Edenvale and Bedfordview Environmental Forum will be established.
Community members, schools, churches, businesses, industries, non-profit organisations and interest groups are invited to the session, which runs from 9am.
Environmental forums were first established in 2003 to create a platform for all communities to deal with environmental issues and to promote sustainable development of the environment.
The programme was formed with the main aim of bringing together all stake-holders from different spheres of life and practices.
Through the years the programme thrived in some communities and failed in others.
Now the city has re-adjusted its approach and will revive some of the dormant forums and establish new ones where there were none.
