Annual Modderfontein quiz to be held

“Lively debate and discussion is expected as the answers to the questions are revealed,” said Mr Vermont.

The Modderfontein Conservation Society’s Annual Quiz will take place at the Modderfontein Town Hall on Thursday, July 17, starting at 7:30pm.

The quiz has been running for 12 years and was re-named the Pam Vermont Memorial Quiz in memory of Pam who passed away in August last year. Mrs Vermont and her husband Mr Robbie have organised the quiz since 2003. It was previously known as Pam’s Quiz.

Mr Vermont said he will continue to run the quiz in her memory.

“The quiz has a general interest theme,” he said.

“The questions cover a wide variety of subjects, from science and current affairs to plants, fish and birds. They are mostly easy, but some are a bit more testing so that a winner will emerge.”

He said there will be 100 questions to be answered by teams of eight members. He asked that people bring along a team or simply join up with other like-minded people for a fun evening.

“Lively debate and discussion is expected as the answers to the questions are revealed,” said Mr Vermont.

He reminded residents to bring pens, pencils and paper. He also suggested dressing warmly.

Visitors are welcome and there is a R30 charge at the door to help cover expenses.
