Three brazen robbers took their chances on Tuesday last week when they simply walked into an unlocked house in the Avenues and held up its occupants.
Of the three men, one was armed.
“The men simply walked into the house, because the front gate, security gate and front door were open,” said the acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts.
He emphasised the importance of proper home security.
“Do not leave doors and windows open. A security gate is a great deterrent to criminals. By ensuring your home security is up to scratch and working correctly, you will make it more difficult for criminals to access your property,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that criminals are always looking for easy targets.
“An open home is an easy target. Do not make it easy for criminals to take what you have worked hard for,” said Lt Col Roberts.
