Attempted murder suspect arrested in Bruma

A security guard was shot and injured in Bruma on July 12.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a security guard at a restaurant alleged he was at work when he noticed the occupants of five cars parking in front of the business.

“The occupants surrounded a vehicle owned by a Chinese national. The men searched the vehicle. The victim saw four suspects armed with firearms. They took a handbag and laptop from the car,” said Const Mashakane.

Guards in a security company vehicle approached. The suspects started shooting at the vehicle and one security guard was shot.

The suspects fled the scene.

Police officers were called and a case was opened.

After investigations, one man (36) was arrested.
