St Benedict’s Rowers Selected to represent SA

This is testimony to the hard work and commitment that the boys and their coach put into making the school season a success

The St Benedict’s College First Four, which won gold at the South African Schools Rowing Championships in March this year, have been selected to represent South Africa at the World Junior Rowing Championships in August this year.

The championships will be held in Hamburg, Germany.

First VIII rowing coach, Brad Smith, has also been selected as the coach of the crew.

On Friday, July 18 the players received their Junior National Colours and were awarded their green and gold blazers by Mr Paolo Cavaleiri, chairman of the ROWSA International Commission.

“It is very seldom that a school crew remains as a complete unit during the selection process. This is testimony to the hard work and commitment that the boys and their coach put into making the school season a success,” said Ms Tanja Vogt of St Benedict’s College’s.
